Our Story
Second Chance Tails was founded in 2024 by a group of passionate individuals who could no longer stand by and watch innocent animals suffer on the streets of Hyderabad. What started as informal rescue efforts quickly grew into a full-fledged shelter operation.
We began with just a handful of rescued dogs and a small rented space in Bowrampet. Today, we care for approximately 80 dogs at any given time, responding to emergency calls across the entire Hyderabad city. While we primarily rescue and rehabilitate dogs, we extend our help to any animal in distress—because every life matters.
Every animal we rescue has a story—of survival, resilience, and hope. Some were hit by vehicles and left to die. Others were abandoned by their families, sick and starving. Many suffered from untreated injuries and diseases. But at Second Chance Tails, their story doesn't end there. We give them the medical treatment they desperately need, a safe place to recover, and most importantly, the love and care they deserve.
We've rescued over 234 animals (primarily dogs), treated 189, and found loving homes for 67. But our work is far from over. Every day, we receive calls about animals in distress, and we will continue our mission as long as there are animals in need.

Our Management
Second Chance Tails is managed by a dedicated board of members who are deeply passionate about animal welfare. Our team brings together diverse skills in veterinary care, operations management, fundraising, and community outreach.
Every decision we make is guided by one principle: what is best for the animals. Our board members volunteer their time and expertise because they believe in our mission and are committed to making a real difference in the lives of animals.
We work closely with Pets Care Hospital in Jubilee Hills, our trusted veterinary partner, to ensure every dog receives professional medical care. Our team of 2 full-time caretakers at the shelter provides round-the-clock care, feeding, and attention to our rescued dogs.
