Why Volunteer?
Volunteers are the backbone of Second Chance Tails. While donations keep us running, volunteers bring the human touch that makes our shelter a home. Whether you have a few hours a week or a few days a month, your contribution matters.
Volunteering isn't just about helping dogs—it's about being part of a community that believes in compassion, second chances, and making a real difference. You'll meet like-minded people, learn about animal care, and experience the joy of seeing rescued dogs transform.
How You Can Volunteer
Dog Care
Help with feeding, bathing, grooming, and general care of dogs. Spend quality time with them and help them socialize.
Time: 2-3 hours
Dog Walking
Take recovered dogs for walks and exercise. Help them build stamina and enjoy outdoor time safely.
Time: 1-2 hours
Shelter Cleaning
Help maintain cleanliness and hygiene at the shelter. Clean kennels, wash bowls, and organize supplies.
Time: 2-3 hours
Rescue Support
Assist with rescue operations, transport injured animals, and help with emergency situations.
On-call basis
Photography & Social Media
Take photos of dogs, create content for social media, and help raise awareness online.
Flexible timing
Administrative Help
Assist with paperwork, fundraising, event planning, adoption coordination, and data management.
Remote possible
Volunteer Requirements
- ✓Must be at least 18 years old (or accompanied by an adult)
- ✓Genuine love and compassion for animals
- ✓Ability to commit to regular volunteer hours (preferred but flexible)
- ✓Physical ability to handle basic tasks (for hands-on roles)
- ✓Comfortable working with dogs of all sizes and temperaments
- ✓Willingness to follow shelter rules and guidelines
Note: We do not currently have a foster program. However, you can volunteer at the shelter regularly. If you're interested in temporary fostering for specific cases, please mention it in your application.
